Confession….I’m kinda addicted to colorful lights …you know….the old timey Christmas lights…the larger ones. Maybe this is a sign of my aging process….getting a little crazy (or alot) as the years go by. Maybe it’s kinda like loosening the strings and breathing, laughing, dancing, singing and loving.
Fashion is kinda like that too….we go thru phases of having to dress all corporate like and proper. We get stuck in the “mommy” rut where all we do is whatever is easy and fits. As a college student….it can easily become all about sweats. And then as we age….we can even fall into the “I’m 50” stage…I can’t wear that!
But what I am observing is that young and old are beginning to take more risks….to “step out of the box” so to speak with their wardrobes. Creativity and originality in fashion is still alive.
I’m not talking about being “obsessed” with fashion…but rather having fun with it!…..not letting yourself fall into a rut and always wearing the “expected”.
Adding a little fringe, a little pop of color or alot of bling with accessories will put a swag in your walk:)….Putting on those dynamite heels for yourself or someone special and adding a sexy top with designer jeans will definitely give you a newfound confidence and glow!
So…I dare you….get with life….take some risks with your fashion…and don’t forget to hang the colored lights!:)
We just got some great (and incredibly soft) denim button-up shirts in from MOTO (Makers of True Originals) the other day, and I wondered how I could pull off the denim on denim trend without looking just… overdone. Case in point: Britney and Justin – below.
This trend has been such a hit on the runways this year, showing up in Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, D&G, Chloe and Louis Vuitton’s collections.
Here are a few tips if you are feeling brave enough to attempt this look:
- Think about your wash. Pair a medium-wash top with jeans that are a shade or two darker. Too light/too dark creates a funky look (and not in a good way).
- Accessorize with leather. Leather belts to break it up, leather shoes to add an earthy element.
- Do not attempt to do acid wash denim, tie dye denim or printed denim. That will lead to bad-funky.
Would you ever be brave enough to attempt the denim on denim?

As Fashionistas everywhere change their spending habits and purchasing styles….everyone is looking for that magical wand to help them get the best savings.
This is nothing new….just alot more prominent now that we have gone thru a major recession. Everyone seems to be shopping for the best “deals” these days.
Hmmm…..a DEAL!….what exactly does that mean?
I would say that a deal is a “wise” purchase on something that will either add value to your everyday life or give you savings towards something that is a “desire”……
Now….I always admit to all of my customers…that most of us really don’t need ANYTHING! (other than air, water, & love)….but it’s the replacement or substitution of something that is already in our lives that will help us to live better, BE better and maybe just maybe add a little zing to our everyday steps:)
Hence, Spring Shopping seems to be now in full bloom….ladies are excited about warmer weather and the chance to update and revive their tired old winter look!
So….ABRACADABRA!…..if you’ve been on complete budget lockdown….let the savings begin
I mean really?!?….how LONG can a girl go without New Shoes!:)
Buy what you love!
?????oh….but I really like it!
I see it everyday….it’s not easy to see that when we try something on…and we truly love it and it fits beautifully.…we should not stress about the Price. Now I know… the “b” word…you know…budget! No doubt, we are all there…looking for the best deals, getting the most for your hard earned cash.
But look at your closet, at your home….the things that you enjoy the most, could be the purchases that cost you the most. Now…I’m not saying to break the bank, but rather than just ruling something out because of the price…consider if it will be a quality purchase. Is it something that will bring you joy? More importantly…is it something that you will wear often? If so…that means getting the most for your dollars. It’s something that you will look forward to finding in your closet, rather than those discount items that only lasted a couple of wearings.
Fashion Rule: If it fits well, and you love it….don’t stress over the dollar amount. More than likely, you find that you closet will fill with items that you love and look forward to wearing.
